Welcome to our lesson about animals! Animals are amazing living creatures that are all around us. They are different from plants because animals can move from one place to another. Animals breathe air, eat food to get energy, and grow bigger as they get older. Let's look at some examples like dogs, birds, and fish.
Animals have special characteristics that make them different from other living things. First, animals can move their bodies to walk, run, swim, or fly. Second, they breathe air or water to get oxygen. Third, animals can sense their environment using their eyes, ears, nose, and skin. Finally, animals can reproduce, which means they can have babies to continue their species.
Animals have different ways of feeding. Herbivores are animals that only eat plants like grass, leaves, and fruits. Examples include rabbits, cows, and deer. Carnivores are animals that eat meat from other animals. Lions, tigers, and sharks are carnivores. Omnivores eat both plants and meat. Humans, bears, and pigs are omnivores because they can eat vegetables and meat.
Animals have many different relationships with each other. In predator-prey relationships, one animal hunts and eats another animal for food. Lions hunt zebras, and cats hunt mice. Some animals cooperate and help each other. Small cleaner fish help big fish by eating parasites from their skin. Animals also compete with each other for the same food, water, or shelter. Two birds might fight over the same nest or food source.
