Coffee is one of the world's most beloved beverages, consumed by millions daily. While there are over 100 species of coffee plants, only two dominate commercial production: Coffea arabica, commonly known as Arabica, and Coffea canephora, known as Robusta. These two species differ significantly in their characteristics, growing conditions, and the final cup quality they produce.
The physical differences between Arabica and Robusta beans are quite distinctive. Arabica beans are larger and more oval-shaped with a curved crease running down the center. In contrast, Robusta beans are smaller, rounder, and have a straight crease. These physical characteristics make it relatively easy for coffee professionals to distinguish between the two species even before processing.
