Hello kids! Today we're going to learn about typhoons. A typhoon is like a giant spinning storm that happens over the ocean. It's like nature's biggest spinning top! The sun heats up the warm ocean water, and this creates rising warm air that starts to spin.
When the sun shines on the ocean, it heats up the water. The warm air above the water becomes lighter, just like a balloon filled with hot air! This warm air rises up into the sky. When warm air goes up, cooler air rushes in from the sides to fill the empty space. This moving air is what we call wind!
Now here's where it gets really cool! When lots of warm air rises up from the ocean, the Earth's rotation makes something amazing happen. You see, our planet Earth is always spinning, and this spinning motion makes the rising air start to twist and turn in circles, just like water going down a drain! The air begins to spiral around and around, getting faster and stronger.
As more and more warm air rises and joins the spinning motion, the storm grows bigger and stronger! Clouds start to form in the spinning air, and rain begins to fall. The center of the storm, called the 'eye', stays calm and quiet, but all around it, powerful winds are spinning faster and faster. When the winds get really strong, we call it a typhoon! It's like nature's giant spinning wheel, full of wind, rain, and clouds.
