Now I really want to teach this lesson and to let the students know, you know, why should we celebrate the festivals and customs. So you're going to make a video for me to teach the students this passage.---**Title:** WHY DO WE CELEBRATE FESTIVALS?
**Text Content:**
Festivals are celebrated all around the world. They have a wide **range** of **origins**, such as the seasons of the year, religions, famous **figures**, and important events. Every festival has its different customs and unique charms. However, no matter how different they may seem, all over the world, the spirit of sharing **joy**, gratitude, love, or peace is common in all festivals.
Of all the traditional festivals, the **harvest** festival can be found in almost every culture. This important agricultural festival takes place after all the **crops** have been **gathered** in. People celebrate to show that they are **grateful** for the year's supply of food. In ancient Egypt, the harvest festival was celebrated during the springtime—the Egyptian harvest season. It **featured** a parade and a great feast with music, dancing, and sports. Today, in some European countries, people **decorate** **churches** and town halls with flowers and fruit, and get together to celebrate over a meal. During the Mid-Autumn Festival in China, families gather to admire the shining moon and enjoy delicious mooncakes.
Customs play a **significant** role in festivals, but sometimes they can change over time. With the development of modern society and the spread of new ideas, some traditions may fade away and others may be established. One example is the **typical** Chinese Spring Festival custom of lighting firecrackers to drive away the evil spirits and celebrate the new year. Nowadays, many big cities have given up this custom in order to avoid air pollution. Another example is Halloween, which slowly became an exciting festival for children, in spite of its religious origins.

Hey everyone! Look around the world, and you'll see people celebrating all sorts of amazing events! We call them festivals! But have you ever stopped to wonder... why do we celebrate festivals and customs? That's what we're going to explore today!
Festivals happen all over the world, and they come from many different places! Some celebrate the changing seasons, like spring or harvest time. Others are linked to religions, famous people from history, or important events that happened long ago. Every festival has its own special customs and unique charm. But guess what? No matter how different they look, there's a common feeling in all of them! It's the spirit of sharing joy, showing gratitude, spreading love, or finding peace.
Let's look at one example: the harvest festival! You can find a harvest festival in almost every culture! It's a super important festival that happens after all the crops, like wheat or rice, have been gathered from the fields. People celebrate to say "thank you" for the food they have for the year. Think about ancient Egypt! They celebrated their harvest festival in the springtime with big parades, music, dancing, and feasts! Today, in some places in Europe, people decorate churches and town halls with beautiful flowers and fruit and share a meal together. And in China, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, families gather to admire the beautiful shining moon and enjoy delicious mooncakes, just like these ones you see here! This festival is also a kind of harvest celebration!
Now, let's talk about customs! Customs are the special things people do during festivals. They are a really important part of celebrating! But sometimes, customs can change over time. As our world develops and new ideas spread, some old traditions might slowly disappear, while new ones are created! For example, in China, a typical custom for the Spring Festival used to be lighting firecrackers to scare away bad luck and celebrate the new year. But nowadays, in many big cities, people have stopped doing this to help keep the air clean. Another example is Halloween! It started with religious meanings, but over time, it has become a super exciting festival mainly for children to dress up and go trick-or-treating!
So, why do we celebrate festivals and customs? We celebrate to connect with our history and culture, to show gratitude for things like food and family, to share happiness and love with others, and sometimes, to adapt old traditions to fit our modern world! Festivals bring people together and add color and joy to our lives! What's your favorite festival? And what special customs do you have in your family?
