Azure Arc-enabled servers extend Azure management capabilities to on-premises and multi-cloud environments. Setting up Resource Health alerts ensures you're immediately notified when these critical servers become unavailable, helping maintain system reliability and minimize downtime.
To begin setting up alerts for Arc-enabled servers, first navigate to the Azure portal at portal.azure.com and sign in with your credentials. Once logged in, use the search functionality to locate your specific Azure Arc-enabled server resource that you want to monitor.
Once you've selected your Arc-enabled server, navigate to the Resource health section in the left-hand menu. This shows the current health status of your server. From here, you can create an alert rule by clicking on 'Add resource health alert' or similar option to begin configuring notifications for when the server becomes unavailable.
Now configure the alert conditions by setting the signal type to Activity Log and monitor service to Resource Health. Set the event status to Active and most importantly, set the status to Unavailable to trigger alerts when your server goes down. Then configure action groups to define how you'll be notified, such as through email, SMS, or webhooks.
Finally, complete the alert setup by providing a descriptive name for your alert rule, setting the appropriate severity level, and choosing the resource group. Make sure to enable the rule upon creation. Review all your configurations and click 'Review + create' to deploy the alert rule. Once created, you'll receive notifications whenever your Arc-enabled server becomes unavailable, helping you maintain system reliability.
