Qixi Festival, also known as the Double Seventh Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. It is one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture with a history dating back over 2000 years.
The Qixi Festival is based on a romantic legend about the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. According to the story, the Weaver Girl was a fairy who fell in love with a mortal Cowherd. When the Queen Mother of Heaven discovered their romance, she created the Milky Way to separate them. However, once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, a flock of magpies would form a bridge across the Milky Way, allowing the lovers to meet.
